Tips To Beat The Heat This Summer
Just as Wacoans have done for over half a century, beat the Texas heat by shopping at Bird-Kultgen Ford in our comfortable air-conditioned showroom! 1) Hydration is key
Drink water, and then drink some more. Staying hydrated is key to beating the high heat. Carry a water bottle around and refill it often.

Avoid being outside during the afternoon if possible. If you must go out, wear a hat, and apply SPF.
3) Go for a swim
Visit our watering holes for a dip! Enjoy boating on Lake Waco, swimming at Waco Riverbend Park, or take advantage of Waco’s great splash parks – just remember your water bottle!
Happy Memorial Day
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is an American holiday originally established to honor fallen soldiers from the Civil War. After World War I, however, the holiday evolved and extended to honor American military personnel who died in all wars.
We often observe Memorial Day in remembrance of those who served by holding town parades and ceremonies, and taking time to visit and decorate the memorials and headstones of the fallen. We spend a 3-day weekend with our families, friends, and loved ones to celebrate the memory and servitude of service members who have died in the line of duty.
Bird Kultgen Ford commemorates and honors military personnel and veterans, as well as First Responders, by Saluting Those Who Serve. First starting in July of 1946 as a mechanic’s assistant, Charley soon moved into the Parts Department, then Sales and on to General Manager. He aided in Bird-Kultgen’s move to a new location, oversaw growth and renovation and helped train the next generation of BK team members. He knows the importance of community involvement as a local business, and he has witnessed firsthand the widespread impact a positive business-community relationship can have.
Serving the Waco community allows Bird-Kultgen Ford to interact with a diverse network of folks from a wide range of backgrounds. To remain in business for over 86 years, Bird-Kultgen Ford has taken the time to learn from our customers and team members who have helped our business thrive. Many of you are immersed in the current excitement of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, rooting for your favorite athletes and experiencing a sense of national pride with each world-record and medal ceremony. Bird Kultgen has the opportunity to experience some of that same excitement locally with our sponsorship and partnership with Special Olympics – Texas.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The movement is also about working together with others, gaining self-confidence and learning additional skills that make it possible for our athletes to become significant and productive citizens of our communities.
Special Olympics Texas is a registered 501(c)(3), non-profit organization supported by private donations from individuals, corporations and organizations throughout the state. Volunteer Needs / How to Volunteer
Volunteers with Special Olympics – Texas include students, senior citizens, business groups, professional individuals, civic organizations, families, amateur and professional athletes, and coaches, to name a few.
No experience required; however, you must be at least 15 years of age, unless accompanied by an adult. Volunteers participate in an orientation prior to working with our athletes.

Each model in our inventory that has less than 100k miles on it goes through a 1.9 hour inspection with a Ford certified technician in our service department. The technician checks over a long list of components, verifying that the vehicle is ready for you and your family. All of these vehicles come with original factory warranties or, if that has expired, they come with a 3 month/4,000 mile 23 component powertrain warranty to keep you protected. All of our vehicles are fully detailed and come with a full tank of gas so you’ll be ready to hit the road right away. We also provide a free CarFax report on all of our pre-owned vehicles so you can know the owner history, maintenance records, and check for any accident damage. If brakes are in the “yellow” we replace them. This is a warning measurement when they are getting low and measure less than 5mm on the brake pads. On the tires, we verify all of them have at least 5/32” of tread remaining or we replace them to keep you safe!
Each of our Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicles has passed our detailed 172-point inspection and comes complete with Ford manufacturer-backed Limited Warranty Coverage and 24-hour Roadside Assistance. Before your CPO purchase, you’ll know the comprehensive vehicle history with a free CarFax, including scheduled maintenance performed. Each certified pre-owned car, truck, or SUV comes with 12-month/12,000-mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty coverage, 7-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage, as well as a complete Vehicle Inspection Checklist.

The Bird-Kultgen Cares Committee is made up of employees from each department- service, sales, parts, collision repair center, and business office. The committee helps to determine which charities and local events we can reach each year, and also coordinates our volunteering.
This year, the committee along with our selfless crew of volunteers and generous supporters contributed to Toys for Tots with a holiday gift drive, helped construct a ramp with Habitat for Humanity that will allowed for a local civic leader to enter and exit his home, provided pet food, water, and supplies to hurricane relief efforts, donated $10,000 to the National Automotive Dealerships of America Emergency Relief Fund, which offers emergency assistance to dealership employees who have been affected by unforeseen emergencies and natural disasters, and supported dozens and dozens of local charities and fundraising events.
We also support the J. H. Kultgen Automotive Technology Center on the Texas State Technical College Waco Campus. Dedicated in 1970, just five years after the establishment of the campus, the J. H. Kultgen Automotive Technology Center along with TSTC helps to prepare students for successful careers in our flourishing Texas economy.
