2024 Ford Explorer Interior Features and Cargo Dimensions

Step Into Comfort and Versatility: The 2024 Ford Explorer Interior Ford designed the 2024 Ford Explorer to elevate every journey with its spacious, tech-savvy, and comfortable interior. At Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco, Texas, we understand that the inside of a vehicle is just as important as its performance. That's why we're excited to discuss the impressive interior features and cargo dimensions of the 2024 Explorer, showcasing how it seamlessly blends functionality with luxury. more Refined Comfort for Every Passenger The base model 2024 Ford Explorer has space for seven across three rows of ergonomic seating. The second row is a reclining 35/30/35 bench, while the back has a 50/50 split to easily accommodate passengers and bulky cargo. The second row can be moved to enable passengers to easily access the back seats. The first two rows are spacious, providing adults and teens with all the headroom and legroom they need for comfortable travel on long journeys. Legroom is a little more limited in the rear, but kids shouldn't quibble with the space on offer. For the XLT trim, Ford swaps out the second-row bench with a pair of captain's chairs. This reduces the capacity to six but increases comfort. A second-row bench is an alternative option on all trim levels for large families needing extra passenger space or anyone who wants to maximize their cargo space. The standard cloth upholstery is comfortable and easy to maintain. Ford treats motorists to the hard-wearing premium synthetic ActiveX on the ST-Line trim and real leather on the Limited trim. The leather upholstery becomes more refined with each trim level. The ST comes with leather and microfiber sport seats in the front, while the King Ranch has striking java-colored Del Rio leather upholstery. Of course, Ford reserves the premium diamond pattern for the upscale Platinum model. All but the base trim have heated seats in the front, and models from the Timberline get heated seats in the rear. Advanced Technology at Drivers’ Fingertips Ford delivers an array of cutting-edge technology to help motorists stay informed and entertained on the move. The Explorer has a standard 8-inch touch screen that integrates with Ford's intuitive SYNC 3 infotainment system, providing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Ford SYNC 3 uses voice recognition for hands-free navigation, climate control, phone calls, and so much more. Motorists can upgrade to a portrait-style 10.1-inch screen with the Premium Technology package available with the King Ranch and Platinum trims. The Explorer also has a Wi-Fi hotspot for internet connection on the go at every trim level. The base model's six-speaker sound system is adequate, but the stereos included at higher trim levels are a compelling argument for upgrading. All but the base trim get a premium 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, so tunes sound crystal clear while driving. For more entertainment variety, Ford offers a three-month all-access trial subscription to SiriusXM with every new Explorer. Cargo Space and Storage Solutions Limiting legroom in the third row boosts the cargo space behind the back seats. With 18.2 cubic feet in the back, the 2024 Ford Explorer offers more trunk space than many of its rivals. The ability to lay down seats increases the versatility of the Explorer's cabin. Folding down the back row increases the trunk volume to 47.9 cubic feet. Models with a second-row bench can lay down these seats to boost cargo space to 87.8 cubic feet. Unlike many car manufacturers, Ford doesn't make its customers wrestle with seating — the Explorer's lay flat at the touch of a button. During real-world testing, motoring publications managed to fit four cases behind the Explorer's third row. By folding down the second- and third-row seats, they could fit 31 bags behind the front seats. Ford also provides storage solutions throughout the cabin to keep families organized. Motorists can stash items out of sight in the glove box, the four door pockets, and the pockets in the back of the front seats. The wireless charging pad in the center console doubles as a phone rest. Behind that, there's a small receptacle for change and other tiny items. With 10 cup holders, there's space for everyone's drinks and then some. Models with the captain's chairs also get a storage tray sitting between them. Thoughtful Interior Amenities Ford has included a range of thoughtful touches to enhance the cabin and create a pleasant, adaptable driving environment. All trim levels have three-zone climate control, which lets passengers in each row set their preferred temperature for more comfortable commutes. Ford adds more appealing features throughout the trim levels to make each different level more enticing. Ambient lighting from the ST-Line lets motorists set their preferred lighting color and intensity. From the XLT trim, a panoramic twin-panel moonroof is an optional extra. Safety and Convenience Features Ford has integrated a comprehensive range of safety and convenience features into the Explorer's exterior to make driving simple and stress-free. Every trim level has Ford Co-Pilot 360 — a fully featured safety system with leading driver assistance technologies, such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. A rearview camera improves visibility when reversing. Ford has reserved some safety and convenience features for the higher trims. An advanced digital instrument cluster, included with the XLT and higher trims, lets drivers access and view relevant information at a glance. The XLT and higher models also get Intelligent Access key keyless entry. This technology puts an end to fumbling with keys and makes motorists safer when they're approaching their vehicles. All these technologies don't just provide peace of mind: they enhance the driving experience by making the Explorer easier to use. The All-New 2024 Ford Maverick Vs 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Head-To-Head: 2024 Ford Maverick vs. Toyota Tacoma In the competitive world of pickups, the compact 2024 Ford Maverick and the midsize Toyota Tacoma stand out as two of the most prominent choices. Each with its unique strengths, these trucks cater to various preferences and needs. Our team at Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco, Texas, has provided this comprehensive comparison of these two models to help drivers understand which truck best fits their lifestyle and work requirements. Contact Us Today! Call Us Today! more Performance and Engine Options Ford Maverick on Desert by Roberto Lee Cortes is licensed with Pexels License Powering the 2024 Ford Maverick is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque via a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. This powertrain offers the option of all-wheel drive. You can opt for a frugal hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a continuously variable transmission to make 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. This setup is only available with front-wheel drive. The Maverick feels more like a car than a truck with its unibody construction. It's easy to maneuver around town and offers a smooth ride on the highway. With all-wheel drive, this truck can handle moderate trails when you go off-road. The base Toyota Tacoma trim features a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 228 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. For most other trims, Toyota has upgraded this engine to produce 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The standard for the TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims and available for other models is a hybrid that mates the turbo engine with an electric motor to produce 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, while some models offer the option of a six-speed manual transmission. Lower Tacoma trims come standard with rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive with low-range gearing is optional or standard, depending on the trim level. This truck handles well in the city and is well-mannered on the highway. Off-road-oriented four-wheel-drive models can get drivers pretty much anywhere they want to go. Fuel Efficiency With the turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive, the Maverick returns an EPA estimate of up to 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg for highway driving. Opting for all-wheel drive drops the figures to 22 and 29 mpg, respectively. The hybrid powertrain returns an impressive 42 mpg around town and 33 mpg on the highway. This is an essential factor in daily commuting and long-term cost savings. The EPA hasn't rated the 2024 Tacoma yet, but Toyota estimates that with the base engine and rear-wheel drive, it will do up to 20 mpg for city driving and 26 mpg on the highway. Four-wheel drive reduces the figures to 19 and 24 mpg. Figures for the Tacoma's hybrid powertrain weren't available when writing. Towing and Payload Capacities When it comes to towing and hauling capability, the Maverick is punching above its weight. When equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, this compact truck has a 2,000-pound base towing capacity. The available 4K Tow Package increases the maximum capacity to 4,000 pounds. With the hybrid engine under the hood, the Maverick has a maximum payload of 1,500 pounds. Maximum towing and payload ratings haven't yet been revealed for all Tacoma configurations. However, so far we know that with the 278-horsepower engine and rear-wheel drive, it can tow up to 6,500 pounds and has a payload of up to 1,705 pounds. Hybrid-equipped Tacomas have a 6,000-pound maximum towing capacity and a payload of up to 1,709 pounds. As most people would expect, the midsize Tacoma can haul more than the compact Maverick. Interior Comfort and Technology Ford offers the Maverick in three trim levels. The base XL trim is a stylish work truck that features durable cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, and a tilting and telescoping steering column. The rear bench seat has a folding seatback, flip-up cushions, and under-seat storage bins that enable the driver to stow valuable items away from prying eyes. The XLT trim adds upgraded upholstery and a rear armrest with integrated cup holders. The top-of-the-range LARIAT offers a touch of luxury with simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a heated vinyl-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power-sliding rear window. It also adds convenience with proximity keyless entry and push-button start. Eight trims are available for the 2024 Tacoma — the SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro, and the all-new Trailhunter. Standard interior features for the SR include a Smart Key system, push-button start, fabric-trimmed seats, a tilt and telescopic steering column, and a lockable rear storage compartment. Higher-spec models offer faux leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a leather-trimmed heated steering wheel. Infotainment and Connectivity The Maverick infotainment system has an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth for hands-free calling and audio streaming, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and a six-speaker sound system. The LARIAT trim is upgraded with the SYNC 3 system with navigation and voice control for hands-free access to calls, navigation, music, weather, and more. It also has a wireless charging pad and a premium eight-speaker B&O audio system for an immersive listening experience. The Tacoma's base multimedia system offers an 8-inch touch screen, wireless smartphone integration, and a four-speaker sound system. Some models have a six-speaker audio system, while the top trims feature a 14-inch touchscreen and a 10-speaker JBL audio system. Driver-Assistance Technology The Maverick XL and XLT feature forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The Ford Co-Pilot360 package adds blind-spot warning and lane-keeping assistance with steering assist. LARIAT models have adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Tacoma SR standards are radar cruise control, lane centering, lane-keep assist, and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. The SR5 adds blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alerts, while the top trims have a 360-degree camera system. Is the 2024 Ford Maverick the Truck for You? This comparison shows that the Ford Maverick and Toyota Tacoma are very different vehicles. Visit us today at Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco, Texas, to explore the features of the 2024 Maverick and schedule a test drive.

With an eight-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain provides seamless acceleration and smooth gear transitions, ensuring an engaging driving experience. While front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard with this configuration, drivers can equip their Maverick with all-wheel drive (AWD) for enhanced traction and control, particularly in challenging road conditions. For those seeking a more eco-friendly alternative without compromising on performance, Ford offers an optional hybrid powertrain for the Maverick. This hybrid setup combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, resulting in a combined power output of 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. While slightly less potent than the standard 2.0-liter engine, the hybrid powertrain still delivers commendable performance while prioritizing fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission, or CVT, the hybrid Maverick offers smooth and efficient power delivery, contributing to a refined driving experience. In terms of fuel economy, the hybrid Maverick bests the gas-powered model, boasting EPA ratings of 42, 33, and 37 mpg (city/highway/combined). For models equipped with the 2.0-liter engine, the FWD Maverick is the most efficient, with fuel economy ratings of 23, 30, and 26 mpg (city/highway/combined). Ford MaverickTowing Capacity and Features The 2024 Maverick offers impressive towing capabilities, making it a versatile option for drivers who require towing functionality without sacrificing fuel efficiency or maneuverability. Even with the hybrid powertrain, the Maverick boasts a commendable towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, allowing drivers to haul moderate loads with ease. This feature ensures optimal grip and control, providing drivers with added confidence and peace of mind behind the wheel. Even with the optional hybrid powertrain, the Maverick maintains respectable performance levels. While not as brisk off the line as the turbocharged four-cylinder option, the hybrid powertrain offers smooth acceleration and adequate power delivery for everyday driving scenarios. Comparisons With Competitors The 2024 Maverick distinguishes itself with impressive engine performance, fuel economy, and towing capacity compared to its closest rival — the Hyundai SANTA CRUZ. With a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower, the Maverick outperforms the SANTA CRUZ in terms of sheer horsepower, providing drivers with a more spirited driving experience both on and off the road. In addition to its robust engine performance, the Maverick boasts a commendable towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds when equipped with the optional 4K Tow package and turbocharged engine. While this doesn't surpass the Hyundai SANTA CRUZ's 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity, the Maverick can handle a variety of hauling tasks, from towing trailers to hauling equipment or recreational vehicles. In terms of fuel economy, the availability of a hybrid option sets the Maverick apart from the SANTA CRUZ. But even when comparing gas-powered models, the Maverick comes out on top with its 26-mpg combined rating. According to the EPA, the 2024 Hyundai SANTA CRUZ's highest fuel economy rating is 23 mpg. BK Ford Supports TSTC Through Vehicle Donation

Here at BK Ford, we're more than just a dealership. We're proud members of the Waco community, and that means investing in its future. That's why we're thrilled to continue our 87-year partnership with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to support their incredible mechanic program. "Our tie to TSTC goes back to its very beginning when the Waco Chamber asked Jack Kultgen to help lead a committee with Earl Retter and John Connolly. Earl Retter, President of A&M, and John Connolly, the Governor of Texas, to transition the old base into a technical school. That's why the Automotive Center today is named after Jack Kultgen," BK Ford President Claire Kultgen-McDonald said With our shared history, BK Ford proudly contributed a vehicle to TSTC's mechanic program, and we're pleased to stand alongside Ford's own generous donation. While it might seem like just a car, it represents an opportunity for students to hone their skills on real-world technology, preparing them for fulfilling careers. Many of our technicians, including our President, Claire Kultgen-McDonald, proudly call TSTC their alma mater. They gained invaluable skills there, and now they use that knowledge to deliver exceptional service to our customers. That's one of the reasons why our recent vehicle donation to TSTC's mechanic program holds deep meaning. "We've been doing it for 87 years, and that's a huge part of who we are. Continuing to support technical education in our local communities, and also just grow young people to be involved in this industry. We need more technicians to take care of people and their cars," Kultgen-McDonald said. We believe in supporting initiatives that cultivate excellence. By partnering with TSTC, we're not just contributing to individual careers; we're investing in the future of the automotive industry. It's a future where skilled technicians like our TSTC graduates push boundaries, drive innovation and deliver exceptional service.
