What Do I Need To Bring To Trade In My Car at Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco, TX?

If you've spotted a vehicle you like on the lot or online, don't rush things. Showing up unprepared for your trade-in could cost you. Having everything in order not only speeds things up but might also put extra dollars in your pocket. Our team walks you through everything you'll need to bring when trading in your vehicle at our Waco dealership. Documents You Need to Trade In a Car Nothing kills the excitement of car shopping faster than paperwork snags. Having all your documents ready can directly impact what we can offer for your trade. Here's what you should grab before heading to our dealership. Your vehicle's title tops the list — it's non-negotiable if you own your car outright, since it proves you're the legitimate owner. If you're still making payments, bring your latest loan statement showing exactly what you owe. Don't forget your current registration and insurance cards — we need proof that your car's legal on Texas roads. Your driver's license or state ID is also required. Bring any maintenance records you have — those oil change receipts and service records are key to proving you've taken care of your car, potentially boosting what we'll pay. Preparing Your Car for Trade-In in Waco, TX First impressions matter, and one of the easiest ways to increase your trade-in value is to bring a clean car to our dealership. There's no need to break the bank — a DIY wash and vacuum works wonders for most vehicles. If you have stubborn stains or lingering odors, consider professional detailing. The pros can make tired interiors look years younger, potentially adding hundreds to your offer. Fix any minor mechanical issues, replace balding tires, and sort out any warning lights on your dashboard. Don't forget the little things, such as extra keys, remotes, owner's manuals, and accessories, such as cargo covers. We recommend removing all personal items before the appraisal and use common sense when it comes to major repairs, as they rarely provide a good return on your investment. Maximizing Your Trade-In Value Knowledge is power when negotiating your trade-in. Look at Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds online for a value estimate. Once you've done your homework, set up an appraisal at our dealership. We'll look at everything from the model year to the miles on the odometer and make you a fair offer. Timing matters more than you'd think. Think twice about trading in that convertible in January — SUVs command higher prices when snow threatens, while sporty cars shine in the spring. The truth about depreciation can be hard to hear, but you should know that new cars typically shed 22% of their value in the first twelve months, and some unlucky models drop a jaw-dropping 65% in three years. Vehicles with additional safety features, Apple CarPlay, or advanced technology often hold their value better, but mileage can be the dealbreaker. Odometers over 100,000 miles will significantly reduce consumer interest and value of a vehicle. What To Expect During the Trade-In Evaluation A typical car inspection usually takes about 15-30 minutes. Our appraisers will evaluate your car, checking body panels, peeking under the hood, scanning the interior, and likely taking a quick spin around the block. They're evaluating factors such as your car's age, mileage, condition, and what similar vehicles currently sell for in Waco. With your Ford trade-in value set, it's time for the paperwork. Don't overlook any potential tax breaks — Texas is among the states that only charges sales tax on the difference between your new car's price and your trade-in value. For example, if you're buying a $40,000 truck with a $15,000 trade-in, you'd pay tax on just $25,000. With Texas's 6.25% sales tax, that's a cool $937.50 staying in your wallet. If our offer falls short of your expectations, you've always got options. Selling your vehicle privately typically nets more cash but demands more effort. Boost Your Trade-In Experience at Bird Kultgen Ford Our dealership has built its reputation in Waco on trust and integrity. Our team walks you through each step of the evaluation while explaining how we reached our numbers. Whether you're eyeing that shiny new F-150 or browsing our preowned inventory, knowing your trade's true worth puts you in the driver's seat. Check out our dealership to peek at the current lineup, or better yet, swing by our Waco showroom where our knowledgeable staff can answer your questions and start the trade-in process.

Why Does Your Ford Need a Coolant Flush?

Maintaining your vehicle’s cooling system is essential for its overall performance and longevity. One of the key components in this system is the engine coolant, which helps regulate the temperature of your engine to prevent it from overheating. Over time, the coolant can become dirty or contaminated, reducing its effectiveness and potentially leading to engine damage. This is where a coolant flush comes in. At Bird Kultgen Ford, we understand the importance of a coolant flush and want to educate you on why it’s necessary to keep your Ford running smoothly. more What Is a Coolant Flush? A coolant flush is a service procedure where the old, contaminated coolant is drained from the engine and replaced with fresh coolant. Over time, coolant can degrade due to the high temperatures within the engine, becoming less effective at absorbing and dissipating heat. A coolant flush removes any built-up debris, rust, and other contaminants that could clog your cooling system, ensuring that the engine operates at optimal temperatures. This service helps prevent overheating, which can cause significant engine damage if left unchecked. Signs That Your Ford Needs a Coolant Flush It’s important to recognize when your vehicle needs a coolant flush to avoid more serious issues down the road. Below are a few signs that it’s time to schedule a coolant flush: Overheating Engine: If your engine is consistently overheating, it could be due to dirty or contaminated coolant. A coolant flush can help resolve this issue by restoring the system’s ability to regulate temperature. Coolant Leaks: If you notice a green, orange, or pink fluid pooling under your car, this could indicate a coolant leak. A coolant flush may help remove the debris causing blockages in the cooling system. Discolored Coolant: When fresh, coolant should be a vibrant color (typically green, orange, or pink). If you notice it looking rusty, brown, or muddy, it may be time for a coolant flush. Sweet Smell in the Cabin: A sweet smell inside your car could indicate a coolant leak or that your coolant has become contaminated. If this happens, scheduling a coolant flush service is a good idea. The Benefits of Regular Coolant Flushes Regular coolant flushes can help your Ford vehicle run more efficiently, improving its performance and longevity. Below are some of the key benefits of getting your coolant flushed on schedule: 1. Prevents Engine Overheating One of the main reasons for performing a coolant flush is to prevent engine overheating. If your engine coolant is old or contaminated, it may not be able to absorb heat effectively. Over time, this can lead to your engine running at higher-than-normal temperatures, which can cause parts to warp, crack, or even seize up completely. Keeping the cooling system fresh with regular flushes can help prevent these issues and avoid costly repairs. 2. Reduces the Risk of Corrosion and Rust Coolant not only keeps your engine cool, but it also helps protect the internal components of the cooling system from rust and corrosion. Over time, contaminants and old coolant can cause rust to build up inside the radiator, water pump, and other system parts. A coolant flush removes these harmful substances, keeping the system clean and reducing the risk of corrosion. Schedule Service Today! 3. Increases Engine Longevity Regularly flushing your coolant and replacing it with fresh fluid ensures that the engine stays at its optimal temperature. This contributes to better engine performance and longevity. A well-maintained engine is less likely to experience premature wear, which can extend the lifespan of your vehicle. 4. Improves Heater Performance Your vehicle’s heater relies on the coolant to produce warm air in the cabin. If the coolant is old or contaminated, it can negatively affect the heater’s performance, leading to insufficient heating in cold weather. A coolant flush can help restore the heater’s efficiency, ensuring that you stay comfortable during winter months. How Often Should You Perform a Coolant Flush? Most manufacturers recommend getting a coolant flush every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, but it’s always best to consult your owner’s manual for specific recommendations for your vehicle. The frequency of coolant flushes may vary depending on the age of your vehicle, the type of coolant used, and your driving habits. More frequent coolant flushes may be required if you drive in extreme conditions—such as heavy traffic, hot climates, or towing. If you’re unsure when to schedule your next coolant flush, don’t hesitate to contact us at Bird Kultgen Ford service department for advice. What Happens During a Coolant Flush? During a coolant flush, our certified technicians will perform the following steps: Draining the Old Coolant: First, the old coolant will be drained from the radiator and engine cooling system. This will remove any dirt, rust, or debris that may have built up over time. Flushing the System: After draining, the cooling system will be flushed with a special cleaning solution to remove any remaining contaminants and ensure the system is clean. Refilling with Fresh Coolant: Finally, the system will be refilled with new, high-quality coolant that is appropriate for your vehicle. The technician will also check the coolant levels to ensure everything is filled properly. Coolant Flush vs. Radiator Flush While coolant flush and radiator flush are often used interchangeably, they are slightly different procedures. A coolant flush drains and replaces the coolant in the entire engine cooling system. A radiator flush, on the other hand, specifically targets the radiator and helps to clear any clogs or debris. While a radiator flush may be beneficial in some cases, a complete coolant flush is generally the more thorough option for maintaining your vehicle’s cooling system. For a comprehensive maintenance routine, be sure to consult our service team for advice on which option is best for your Ford. 4 Benefits of Buying Your Car From an Official Ford Dealer

Fords are great, reliable vehicles, so it's no wonder you may be considering a Ford as your next car. Of course, the first step to buying a new car is deciding whether to purchase it from a private seller or a dealership. Here's exactly why you'll want to head to your Ford dealer. more 1. There's No Hassle at Your Dealership If you're planning on purchasing your car from a private seller, expect to have to do a lot of work. Not only are you going to have to sift through car listings to find one that works for you, but the car you like might be significantly out of your way to get to. At your dealership, all the vehicles are in one location. It's easy to take a look at all your options and give them a try since they're all in one place. 2. You Get Quality Used Cars Buying a used car can save you some money, which is what makes a used car such a great option for your next vehicle. If you're looking for a used car, you can certainly try looking into private sellers, but there's a lot that can go wrong when you go this route. When you visit a dealership and buy one of their certified pre-owned vehicles, rest assured that these cars have been rigorously checked over and tested to make sure they're still high-quality cars. You can also count on the fact that any repairs the mechanics may have had to do will have been done with original equipment manufacturer parts. 3. You'll Get Advice from the Experts A private seller probably knows the basics of the vehicle they're selling. But any burning questions you have about the manufacturer, or any recommendations you might be looking for will be left hanging. Not so at a dealership! Many of the staff members at your local dealership have worked with this brand of vehicle for years. You can trust that you're getting the best advice when you visit a dealership to buy your vehicle. 4. You'll Get a Warranty Car dealerships want to make sure that you're happy with their products. They want to maintain your trust, which is why they'll offer a warranty when you purchase your vehicle. This warranty will ensure that if something goes wrong, you have the financial support you need to do what needs to be done. You're probably not going to get a warranty when you purchase a vehicle from a private seller. Unfortunately, that means that if the car isn't as high-quality as you were told, or the unexpected happens, it's all up to you to cover the costs. Buying a new car is an exciting experience, but if you want to get your money's worth it's important to go about it the right way. Visiting your dealership will make sure you're getting quality vehicles, expert advice, and financial support. If you're ready to start shopping for your new Ford, visit Bird-Kultgen Ford today!

Driving in Ice

Advice for Driving in Freezing Temperatures

The temperatures are dropping in Central Texas, with an expected record low of – 1 in Waco on Sunday. Unfortunately, this weather is expected to last much longer than us native Texans are accustomed and hiding indoors may not be the solution all week. If you have special Valentine’s plans this weekend or simply need to get to work and the grocery store here is some advice from our experts. more Jon Taft, Service Advisor Manager, says, “Make sure you do a thorough vehicle inspection before taking off on the road, cold temperatures can magnify existing problems.” Vehicle Inspection Tips: Allow your car a little more time to warm up so that oil in the transmission and engine can circulate and get warm (always make sure your garage door is open prior to starting your vehicle). Ensure you have good tread on your tires, we r ecommend replacing tires with a tread less then 3/32 of an inch. ( An easy gage is to use a penny, place a penny headfirst into several tread grooves across the tire, if you can see Lincoln's head your tires are too worn. Double check you r tire pressure; low tires can cause you to slide on the road. Clear all windows, mirrors and cameras of ice or debris to allow for an unobstructed view (frozen sensors on your vehicle will continue to alert you if not cleared). Check your wiper blades, if they were used to clear ice previously the blades or motor may need to be replaced. Cold weather can also make the blades brittle and more likely to crack. Never spray your vehicle with water to clear ice, this will only cause more problems. (We highly recommend investing in a scrapper, but you can also use a credit card, spatula or even a baseball cap in a pinch). Robert Chollett, Quick Lane Service Manager, sa id, “Most modern vehicles are fully equipped to handle cold weather, but it is always good to double check your battery and coolant. A low battery may have difficulty starting in cold weather.” If you have any questions or want a th o rough vehicle inspection you can always stop by our Quick Lane and our team will be glad to help, make sure your vehicle is running safely for all weather. Vice President, Claire Kultgen reminds, “It’s always best to double your travel time when traveling in inclement weather, go slow and pay attention to weather warnings and watches.” If you have any questions re garding your vehicle, please give us a call. Please stay safe and warm this winter.
