Bird-Kultgen Donates Free Mammograms

This October, we partnered with Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We wanted to provide awareness of the importance of breast health and do something that could help women in our community. Working together, we discovered the greatest need in our community was mammograms for women without insurance, especially right now. On October 14th, we hosted a mammogram sign-up day at Bird-Kultgen Ford. Michelle Wilson, Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Breast Center Manager, was on-site to educate consumers and assist in scheduling mammograms. more “Despite this Coronavirus season, scheduling and getting a screening mammogram is effortless and so very important,” Wilson said. Our goal was to provide 50 free mammograms by donating $200 from every SUV purchased and $5 from every oil change in October towards the effort. However, we provided 72 women in need with mammograms and several women with the necessary follow-up screenings due to the overwhelming demand. “We were inspired to be able to assist women who need our help while bolstering awareness that we cannot skip annual mammograms,” said Claire Kultgen McDonald, Vice President at Bird-Kultgen Ford. We encourage all women to get a yearly mammogram and to educate themselves on proper breast health. Visit our Breast Cancer Awareness page to learn more about proper breast health and the importance of yearly mammograms. If you need a donated mammogram, please call 254-202-4220 ( Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest can provide information on assistance).

Bird-Kultgen Blood Drive

This Wednesday, Bird-Kultgen Ford partnered with Carter BloodCare to sponsor a mobile blood drive in front of the dealership. Blood Drive coordinator, Mike McCoy said, "When Carter BloodCare put a call out for help to Central Texas businesses…Bird-Kultgen Ford immediately stepped up to host a blood drive during these difficult times. 27 lives were saved because of their efforts. I want to give a huge Thank you to Becky and Bird-Kultgen Ford." more With our nation being in the midst of a global pandemic, this act of service comes at just the right time for the Waco community. During these times, many blood drives have been canceled and people have been unable to give blood because of the concerns of being out in public, which is what has led to the shortage. Claire Kultgen, Vice president of Bird Kultgen Ford, said ”We were happy to help out with the need of blood donations in Waco”. Giving blood is simple and takes little to no time at all. Around 60% of the American population is eligible to donate blood, but only 5% end up doing so. The process lasts about 20 minutes and collects a whole pint of blood, which has the potential to save up to three lives. Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured, so it’s critical that individuals consider donating. Rebecca Cantu, the primary blood drive coordinator for Bird-Kultgen Ford, expressed the importance and urgency of donating blood in times like this. “We were happy to support Carter Blood Care by hosting a Blood Drive. The need for blood donation is greater than ever before, and we wanted to do our part to help. Unfortunately, less than 4% of our community donates, which leaves Carter continually struggling to keep up with demand. If you are eligible to donate, we encourage you to help.” Carter Bloodcare is offering COVID-19 antibody tests to donors. The test is an indicator of someone’s exposure to coronavirus, but is not an indicator of immunity to COVID-19. To donate, contact Carter Bloodcare by visiting https://www.carterbloodcare.org, or call 1-800-DONATE-4.

7 Cool Features of the NEW Ford Bronco

You might have seen all of the hype around the 2021 Ford Bronco. Almost every media platform has a Bronco ad. What you might not know is that the new Ford Bronco is packed with cool features that live up to the hype. We put together the top seven that make the Bronco unique. more #7- Tailgate like a pro! FORD Forgot your tailgate table? No problem. With a side-swinging tailgate, the Bronco has a pull-out tray that is a table, tailgate, seat or whatever you need. Can you say, “it’s about time somebody did this?”. #6 Finally, a dashboard that works. FORD You didn’t even realize you needed this until you saw it, right? Everyone has put something on the dash of their vehicle only to have it slide off at the worst moment. Think of all the contraptions you have seen in vehicles to hold cell phones, navigation systems, speed radar detectors, etc., it’s like a tech store discount aisle. Throw it all away, the Bronco already has it. #5- Low- Rid- Er FORD Low and slow. Some models come with an ultra-low crawler first gear. Mud, sand, rough trail, steep incline - Bronco has you covered. A four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a seven-speed manual transmission and crawler gear ----- umm, yeah. #4- The right spot for tie-downs FORD There can never be too many tie-down hooks. There can never be too many tie-down hooks. There can never….. So Ford got it right. They put two on the hood so you don’t have to loop a rope all the way to the front bumper. And they double for visual reference points when driving in close spaces. How cool is that? #3- Stand on it- with One Foot FORD What if you could hit the gas and when you let off the brakes automatically applied? That’s what the ten-speed automatic version of the Bronco does at low speeds. One less maneuver to think about and an ultra-cool feature for rock climbing or steep inclines. Now, what to do with my other foot… #2- Doors are optional FORD This feature is the essence of cool, no doors or top! The interior comes in a water-proof version, including buttons and switches,so don’t worry about the rain/mud, spray it out when you’re done. The floor mats can even come with drain plugs! If you want that rugged, outdoor, rebel look, you’ve got it. #1 The sway bar is alive FORD The off-road versions come with an independent front suspension with a sway bar that disconnects on uneven ground and reconnects with speed. Are you kidding? It reacts on its own. Now that’s cool. And unbelievable. And cool. Reserve your 2021 Ford Bronco now.
