If you’re not big on dates, you could always swing by the dealership and get an oil change, new tires, or basic vehicle maintenance to surprise that special someone in your life. If you really want to impress them though, your best bet is to just hop online and custom order a new 2022 F-150 Truck. If that sounds like a little overkill for this holiday, here’s some fun central Texas Ford inspired date ideas. more For the Ford F-150 Truck Owner: Obviously, you have to go on a truck picnic! The F-150 bed features LED box lights, an Integrated tailgate step with lift assist, and remote tailgate release. It’s a nice truck bed that can be used for more than work. Grab some takeout (we recommend Union Hall) or a charcuterie board, a bottle of wine, and some blankets and you’ve got yourself a romantic picnic under a Texas sunset. If you’re not able to get to a rural Texas Field, we suggest heading down to the Brazos River and finding a nice spot in the heart of Downtown Waco! For the Ford Bronco Owner: Just like your Bronco, the Drive in Movies are a classic. Take your special someone to the nostalgic last drive-in picture show in Gatesville, Texas! Nothing beats popcorn, candy, and the comfort of your new Bronco. Plus, you’ll be sure to have the coolest truck at the Drive In! This Valentine’s Day, the Last Drive in Picture Show is offering 2 different shows: American Underdog, and Moodfall. For the Ford Mustang Driver: Might we suggest a drive to a local vineyard? A drive out to Valley Mills Vineyard in your Mustang is sure to get your heart pumping. The drive to get there takes you down highway 6 north, over Lake Waco, and through the rolling hills of central Texas. Just outside of Waco, an afternoon of wine, snacks, and great views is a perfect date. For the Ford Expedition Driver: Double date, group date, or take the whole family out! You’ve definitely got the room for it, Ford Expeditions are the perfect family vehicle. If you want to spend Valentine’s day with friends or family, we suggest an outing to Waco’s TopGolf! Can’t beat fellowship and a friendly competition, or a good laugh if someone in your group has never swung a golf club before. No matter how you’re spending your Valentine’s Day, we hope it’s a good one! We’ll be spending the Monday serving our customers, which in our eyes is pretty sweet.

A Hybrid for Truck Lovers

Ford introduced its first Hybrid Truck option in the 2021 Ford F-150 lineup. F-150 Truck lovers can now purchase a hybrid version of their favorite pickup without forfeiting payload or towing capacity. The Ford F-150 Hybrid boasts best in-class horsepower and torque rating, making the purchase of a hybrid truck a realistic and fuel efficient alternative to traditional truck ownership. The Ford F-150 Hybrid pairs a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor that contributes 35 KW or 47 horsepower to the drivetrain. The battery is located under the truck, so cargo and passenger space is not sacrificed. All F-150 Crew Cabs are available in a hybrid model. The hybrid option transforms this truck into an onboard generator system that can provide 7.2 kilowatts of electricity to outlets located in the truck bed. Drivers can be sure they are never without electricity or power again! The Ford F-150 Hybrid runs smoothly and boosts the 3.5-liter truck’s EPA fuel efficiency by 20 percent, elevating the truck’s estimated city/highway combined mpg to 25. The F-150 Hybrid also gets an EPA-estimated range of 750 miles on a single fill-up of its 30.6-gallon tank, saving both time and money. F-150 Truck buyers now have more choices than ever before. Owning a hybrid is no longer impossible for people who want a Ford Tough Truck. Come see what we have to offer at Bird-Kultgen Ford in Waco, Tx. The History Behind our Love for Trucks

There is no denying that Americans have a long term love affair with trucks. What started out as a need in the early 1900s has evolved into a modern day love story, and it’s no surprise that Ford is at the heart of the narrative. more At the turn of the 19th century, 95 percent of Americans lived on farms and relied on one horse wagons for trade, transportation and farm work. By the turn of the 20th century, only about a third of families still lived on farms and many owned two horse wagons. The revolutionary change came in 1925 when work horses were replaced by the first factory built pickup: the Model T Ford. This new invention drastically altered everyday life by making long-distance trips more practical, heavier workloads possible, and longer work days an option due to headlights. In World War II, trucks gave the American army a clear advantage. Other countries discouraged entrepreneurial ideas like the pickup, and our roadways and fuel infrastructures were much more advanced thanks to the ever-increasing popularity of the truck.  Individuals and businesses alike relied on trucks for convenient transportation, and when Congress passed the luxury tax on new cars in 1991, trucks were exempt because of their value to the economy. This luxury tax exemption spurred truck manufacturers to begin adding luxury options to trucks, and the American people fell deeper in love. In 2001, Ford introduced the half-ton F150 four door pickup; it was love at first sight. Sedans no longer had the edge in luxury or interior space, and by that time owning a truck had become a status symbol.  The Ford F150 still holds the title of the best-selling, most popular pickup model in American history, proving that love can indeed stand the test of time. All-new 2021 F-150 Lariat in Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. The completely redesigned 2021 Ford F-150 has been named the North American Truck of the Year, along with many other accolades including ‘Best Buy Award’ by Kelley Blue Book, Green Truck of the Year by Green Car Journal and Top Rated Truck by Edmunds.com. The other three trims are somewhere in the middle between the two, but all five trims come with their own standard and optional features which truly customize the Explorer in a variety of different ways. Driving in Ice

Advice for Driving in Freezing Temperatures

The temperatures are dropping in Central Texas, with an expected record low of – 1 in Waco on Sunday. Unfortunately, this weather is expected to last much longer than us native Texans are accustomed and hiding indoors may not be the solution all week. If you have special Valentine’s plans this weekend or simply need to get to work and the grocery store here is some advice from our experts. more Jon Taft, Service Advisor Manager, says, “Make sure you do a thorough vehicle inspection before taking off on the road, cold temperatures can magnify existing problems.” Vehicle Inspection Tips: Allow your car a little more time to warm up so that oil in the transmission and engine can circulate and get warm (always make sure your garage door is open prior to starting your vehicle). Ensure you have good tread on your tires, we r ecommend replacing tires with a tread less then 3/32 of an inch. ( An easy gage is to use a penny, place a penny headfirst into several tread grooves across the tire, if you can see Lincoln's head your tires are too worn. Double check you r tire pressure; low tires can cause you to slide on the road. Clear all windows, mirrors and cameras of ice or debris to allow for an unobstructed view (frozen sensors on your vehicle will continue to alert you if not cleared). Check your wiper blades, if they were used to clear ice previously the blades or motor may need to be replaced. Cold weather can also make the blades brittle and more likely to crack. Never spray your vehicle with water to clear ice, this will only cause more problems. (We highly recommend investing in a scrapper, but you can also use a credit card, spatula or even a baseball cap in a pinch). Robert Chollett, Quick Lane Service Manager, sa id, “Most modern vehicles are fully equipped to handle cold weather, but it is always good to double check your battery and coolant. A low battery may have difficulty starting in cold weather.” If you have any questions or want a th o rough vehicle inspection you can always stop by our Quick Lane and our team will be glad to help, make sure your vehicle is running safely for all weather. Vice President, Claire Kultgen reminds, “It’s always best to double your travel time when traveling in inclement weather, go slow and pay attention to weather warnings and watches.” If you have any questions re garding your vehicle, please give us a call. Please stay safe and warm this winter.
