Unleash Adventure: The 2024 Ford Bronco’s Off-Road Mastery

We understand the thrill of off-road exploration at Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco, Texas. The 2024 Ford Bronco, a vehicle that’s as rugged as it is innovative, lets drivers embrace the call of the wild. The new Bronco takes adventurous drivers to places far beyond the confines of paved roads. This article delves into the 2024 Ford Bronco’s exceptional off-road capabilities, making it the ultimate adventure companion.

Advanced Four-Wheel-Drive Systems

The 2024 Bronco has two available advanced four-wheel-drive systems to help Waco drivers access even the wildest trails. One comes with part-time selectable engagement and an electronic shift-on-the-fly two-speed transfer case. Depending on the model, an advanced four-wheel-drive system with automatic on-demand engagement and a two-speed electromechanical transfer case is also available or standard.

The Sasquatch Package adds features such as electronic locking front and rear axles and a shorter final drive ratio. Available modes enable drivers to tailor the Bronco’s driving characteristics to suit specific off-road conditions, such as muddy trails, sandy terrain, rock crawling, etc.

Terrain Management System

The Bronco features a terrain management system with various Goes Over Any Type of Terrain (G.O.A.T.) Modes. The system offers up to 10 modes that allow drivers to optimize the vehicle’s performance across various terrains. The modes adjust the Bronco’s traction control, steering, transmission shift points, and throttle response.

Normal: The default mode for everyday driving.

Eco: This mode helps tune the engine for optimal fuel efficiency.

Sport: This provides improved performance and handling.

Slippery: This mode optimizes transmission shifting, traction, and stability for tighter control in wet or icy conditions.

Sand/Snow: This mode helps drivers stay in control through shifting sand or drifting snow.

Mud/Ruts: This engages a four-wheel-drive lock and allows more wheelspin.

Rock Crawl: This helps tackle the most rugged terrain, enabling drivers to navigate over obstacles.

Baja: This setting adjusts performance for optimal high-speed off-road driving.

Tow-Haul: This mode reduces the need for shifting when hauling loads and adds braking control on descents.

Off-road: This adjusts control for enhanced all-around off-road performance.

These modes enable drivers to get the best from their Bronco whether on the highway or off-road trails.

Ground Clearance and Water Fording

With the Bronco, drivers can tackle the road less traveled even when facing obstacles and water crossings. The Bronco offers 11.6 inches of ground clearance, which, along with a 43.2-degree approach angle, a 29-degree breakover angle, and a 37.2-degree departure angle, enables it to handle any unexpected off-road obstructions.

To cope with streams, creeks, and bogs, the Bronco features a standard 33.5 inches of water-fording capability, and the high-mounted air intake helps keep the engine clear through water courses. The Bronco Everglades trim boosts this capability with 11.7 inches of ground clearance, 36.4 inches of water fording, and a factory-fitted air snorkel.

Suspension and Handling

The Bronco offers four high-speed off-road suspension systems, depending on the model and package. The off-road-ready HOSS 1.0 features front and rear HOSS-tuned heavy-duty dampers and long-travel coil-over springs. HOSS 2.0 adds an independent front suspension and BILSTEIN position-sensitive dampers.

The Bronco Wildtrak comes standard with HOSS 3.0, which ramps up the capability with a severe-duty steering rack, a rear stabilizer bar, FOX shocks, bypass semi-active dampers, and upgraded tie-rod ends. The Raptor gets the ultimate off-road setup with HOSS 4.0. It adds live valve technology with position-sensitive damping, integrated front reservoirs, and rear remote reservoirs.

Available electronic locking front and rear differentials enhance the Bronco’s off-road prowess. The Badlands and Raptor trims also get a front stabilizer bar disconnect, which disconnects the sway bar at the push of a button for unbeatable articulation. It automatically reconnects above specific speeds.

Durable Build and Protective Features

Off-road vehicles need protection from the harsh conditions they have to endure. The Bronco offers durable build quality and many standard and available features to help prevent damage. Steel skid plates protect the engine, transmission, transfer case, fuel tank, stabilizer bar, and tow hooks when crawling over tough terrain.

A heavy-duty modular front bumper protects the bodywork from trees, rocks, scrub, and more, while rock rails shield the rocker panels and can support up to 1 1/2 times the Bronco’s weight. Available protective moldings can help prevent damage to the Bronco’s body panels.

Off-Road Technology and Accessories

The Bronco offers available technology and accessories to help conquer any terrain and keep the driver in command when they head out on the trails. Trail Control is an off-road, low-speed cruise control system that lets drivers concentrate on steering around obstacles. With Trail 1-Pedal Drive, the driver only needs to take their foot off the gas pedal to brake the car and press it again to release the brakes.

Trail Turn Assist brakes the inside rear wheel on tight turns for an improved turning radius for getting around obstacles. The available 360-degree camera features off-road views showing the path of the wheels, which helps with rock crawling and negotiating over rugged terrain.

The Bronco Everglades trim features a 10,000-pound winch with a remote control if the driver gets into trouble or needs to help another vehicle. For enhanced off-road capability, adding the Sasquatch Package to the Bronco provides a lifted suspension, front and rear electronically locking axles, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, and modified fender flares.
