Many of you are immersed in the current excitement of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, rooting for your favorite athletes and experiencing a sense of national pride with each world-record and medal ceremony. Bird Kultgen has the opportunity to experience some of that same excitement locally with our sponsorship and partnership with Special Olympics – Texas.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The movement is also about working together with others, gaining self-confidence and learning additional skills that make it possible for our athletes to become significant and productive citizens of our communities.
Special Olympics Texas is a registered 501(c)(3), non-profit organization supported by private donations from individuals, corporations and organizations throughout the state. Special Olympics is “the most credible charity in America” according to a survey in the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Visit our website for helpful information on how donations are utilized.
