2021 Ford Bronco Sport
If you love the Ford Bronco but not its hulking frame, meet the Ford Bronco Sport. New for 2021, the Ford Bronco's little brother offers all you love about the Bronco in a more compact size. Get to know more about the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport.
Trim Levels
The Ford Bronco Sport follows the Bronco's style cues with its masculine boxy design. However, its compact dimensions make it look a little cuter and less intimidating.
You have five Bronco Sport trim levels to choose from, each with an equally outdoorsy name. They start at the Base, followed by Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and, finally, the First Edition. Each has a similar look, although black exterior accents on the Outer Banks and First Edition trims help them stand out.
Engine
The Bronco Sport features the same platform as Ford's Escape crossover. Ford offers two engine options, both paired with all-wheel drive for extra traction outdoors.
The first three trims have a turbocharged 1.5-liter Dragon EcoBoost inline-three engine. It generates 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the Bronco Sport has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
The Badlands and First Edition trims get a larger 2.0-liter GTDI EcoBoost motor. This brawnier engine generates 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. This bigger engine boosts the maximum towing capacity to 2,200 pounds.
Performance
The trail-ready independent front and rear suspension and special Goes Over Any Type of Terrain, or GOAT, driving modes make the Bronco Sport a confident off-roader. It really excels out in the elements, no matter what terrain you test it with.
All too often, off-roading experts flounder in the city, but the Bronco Sport is surprisingly comfortable in the urban jungle. Being smaller than its sibling, it has an easier job merging in traffic and securing parking spaces. It also handles well on the city streets, with confident cornering and capable acceleration. The off-road tires are even quieter on the road than you might expect. For true versatility, the Bronco Sport is an excellent option.
Interior
It might be more compact than the Bronco, but the Bronco Sport has no shortage of space. Clever design ensures the cabin is spacious enough for you and your passengers. An upright front seating position maximizes legroom for rear passengers. The Bronco Sport's roofline also slopes in the rear, ensuring adult passengers have the headroom they need in the back.
That rear sloping roofline also boosts cargo space. You'll have no problems fitting a pair of mountain bikes or the spoils from a shopping spree in the back. Compact storage compartments built into the doors and a storage bin under the back seats for larger items further increase the Bronco Sport's storage capabilities.
Safety
The new Ford Bronco Sport features several helpful driver-assistance technologies as standard. All trim levels have blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, lane-departure alerts, and lane-keeping assist. For extra peace of mind, opt for additional safety features, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology for easier city driving.
